tei Solutions CEO, Dr. Shuji Ikeda, will present at SEMICON Japan on Thursday, December 6th 2012 at Makuhari Messe - Room 302, 3F International Conference Hall between 10:45-11:20 AM.

Presentation Abstract

A New Approach for tool development suitable for the “Beyond Moore” Era.

In the 1980s, the semiconductor industry enjoyed glorious business growth based on memory products. In the early 1990s, logic products were increasing. Since a product idea is more important in Logic than in Memories, the business model began to change from “How to Make” to “What to Make”. Now we are facing another change, from “More Moore”, “More than Moore” to “Beyond Moore”. Semiconductor technologies are combining with other emerging technologies and will create a wide variety of industries. In “Beyond Moore”, the customization of tools to each technology might be more important than smaller geometries and larger wafers size, which tool makers have been chasing for long years. Ideas from an IDM may not work so effectively. Potential problem might be less people are familiar with semiconductor technology or manufacturing tools and notice emerging technologies could be success if they use semiconductor technologies. It is very important to create new system to get new ideas and combine emerging technologies and semiconductor tools and technologies.
